Abstract

Image sensors are widely used in various kinds of applications. The transition from CCD to CMOS image sensor technologies has played a crucial role in the evolution of these applications. In this presentation, the speaker reflects on the development of these technologies and their integration into the market, highlighting the contributions of early pioneers. The presentation covers the adoption of CMOS image sensors in high-definition TV, camcorders, DSLRs, and digital still cameras. It also discusses the challenges faced during the transition and the introduction of new technologies, such as back-illuminated sensors and on-chip ADC. The speaker concludes by emphasizing the continuous progress of CMOS image sensor technologies driven by market demands and the innovation of researchers.
